About Svein Rosseland
Svein Rosseland (b. 1957) is a Norwegian visual artist working with camera based fine art, sound and short film. His pictures has been internationaly awarded. After finishing the fine art studies at Århus Academy of Art, Denmark, he converted to graphic design. Following years as a graphic designer, he has since 2007 returned to his passion and concentrates on creating art full time. When creating art Rosseland consider himself as an explorer in a layered land of meetings, feelings, experiences, shapes, contrasts, light and color. Reflections on the art of Svein Rosseland by sculptor Alicia Maria Puerta, Colombia When someone speaks about pain, sorrow, despair, solitude and anguish, our human being immediately retracts and takes two steps backwards. It starts to confront the most debilitating, devastating and powerful emotion in our soul; which is the fear, the dread of dealing with our own selves in our own modern and contemporary agitated lifetimes. Confrontation and recognition of our weaknesses and losses in our daily life and reality is the most beautiful, admirable and more transparent encounter with the real meaning and definition of a true human. Svein Rosseland is a true human who has the courage of expressing his inner soul by using himself as a mirror and reflection in order to help others who feel lost and abandoned, encouraging them to go in the pursuit of their spiritual freedom, mental and physical liberation. By showing through his insight and profound photographs full of thoughtful texture and expressive emotions, unlimited melancholic backgrounds, how fragile and breakable a human being is and can be, and how strong, powerful and respectful he can transform himself at the same time. Becoming so powerful and strengthened by his own undeniable conquer of love, acceptance and forgiveness. Svein Rosseland’s photographic works shows bravery and courage, risking and wandering inside mysterious and silent places where not many human beings dare to establish or even take a glimpse. Close-ups and exquisitely detailed artworks inviting the viewer to stay and heal inside the masterpiece in a complementary appearance and personification attitude. His works requires contemplation, meditation and silence in order to allow the masterpiece to transmit its strong, implicit and comforting message of rebirth. Anger and sorrow are constantly depicted in his photographs as a manifestation of failure in achieving quietness in the mind, soul, heart and corporal world. Searching for human recognition in a respectful and friendly manner, without interfering with the growth of others, pretending to be part of the global search of truth and respect in this contact and evolving human society. |
